Why Donate?
The Silicon Valley Lions Club of Mountain View, like Lions Clubs all over the world, are able to dirvert your unneeded prescription eyeglasses from the landfill by collecting them for redistribution to people who couldn’t otherwise obtain corrective lenses to help them see.
Eyeglasses collected locally are driven up to the Lions in Sight warehouse in Vallejo, where they are cleaned, sorted, and machine-graded by prescription. The eyeglasses are then sent with Lions on eyeglass missions around the world, where volunteer eye doctors perform eye exams. Lions accompanying the doctor are trained to read the prescriptions and match them up with eyeglasses from the inventory they bring along.
For many of those receiving eyeglasses on these missions, it may be their first or only pair they’ll ever have. In 2007-2008, Lions Clubs International provided eyeglasses to seven million people worldwide through this recycling effort.

Company Lost & Found Pickups
Companies or commercial sites that have lost and found operations often donate the eyeglasses that are turned in, after they have been held for whatever time their policies dictate. To arrange for your lost and found eyeglass inventory to be picked up, please email info@siliconvalleylions.org
